The Future of Hemlock
Hemlock is a structural powerhouse of general construction, known for its rigidity and robustness, high nail and screw holding ability and glues easily. Its outstanding characteristics (specifically) make it the (most appropriate) choice for horizontal placement, long spans, roof decking and beams, both solid and (glue-)laminated. It is also used for plywood and laminating stock.
Hemlock’s nature is more than brute strength. It yields a fine, sophisticated, smooth surface when sanded, which responds evenly to stains and various surface finishes due to its non-resinous nature. Beautiful results are found in mouldings, interior woodworking, veneered paneling, furniture, doors, floors and windows.
